OSHA HazCom compliance for light manufacturing.
Light manufacturing operations need a real compliance system — not a binder. HazCom48 fits your line layout, your shift schedule, and your supplier mix.
Light manufacturing operations are required to comply with OSHA HazCom (29 CFR 1910.1200) for every cutting fluid, threadlocker, adhesive, solvent, and lubricant used on the line. A compliant program includes a written plan covering each production cell, an SDS library accessible to every shift, GHS labels on all transfer containers and dip tanks, and documented training for line workers and shift leaders.

Light Manufacturing HazCom — common questions
Do I need an SDS for cutting fluid?
Yes. Cutting fluids and metalworking coolants are hazardous chemicals under GHS and must have an accessible SDS. Long-term exposure is also linked to dermatitis and respiratory issues, which often trigger additional OSHA recordkeeping.
Are dip tanks considered secondary containers?
Yes. Any tank or container where a chemical is held outside its original packaging — including dip tanks, parts washers, and transfer drums — is a secondary container that requires labeling.
How often do I need to update my chemical inventory?
Whenever a new chemical is brought on site or an existing one is removed. OSHA expects the inventory to reflect what's actually on the floor today, not last quarter.
